MAS90 locking up

This lockup issue is affecting 1000's of users.
Not all implementations of XP on W2K3 domains are affected
which is the mystery. The problem is many clients
experience networked application (MAS90) lockups using XP
clients on a Windows Server 2003 domain. MS Office
applications are not affected. It is somewhat repeatable.
It manfests when the user minimizes MAS90 and does work in
Outlook, Word, etc for longer than a couple of minutes OR
goes to lunch leaving all applications open on the
desktop. Upon return MAS90 is unresponsive and task
manager reports "not responding". MSOffice apps using
network resources continue to work fine. KB 296624,
821008, 822820, 823272 were applied which _sometimes_
works. Perfmon on the server indicates nothing. ODBC
tests indicate A-Ok. No errors logged on servers, XP
clients EVTs "application hang" - only a generic error.
The work around is to reboot the client or the server or
both. Any ideas and advise appreciated.

Ron

From your description, it seems like that MAS90 app is the culprit and not
the OS or any other apps running. App lockups are difficult to nail down and
debug. Have you contacted the vendor?

It could even come down to a memory issue, which can cause lockups, Could
even be the architecture, (CPU, Chipset or RAM brand). See if these may help
below, but I would contact them and explain to them what you explained here.
Or it could be a simple driver doing it. Does the MAS90 (not really familiar
with what it is) have a driver that gets installed?

Hello Ace,

One could easily agree the application itself is the
problem without additional background information.
MAS90, a Best Software product, is litterally installed on
10's of 1,000's of networks and computers worldwide.
Best has been consulted. MAS90 runs rock solid on W2KPro
clients in either a W2K Server or W2K3 server/domain. It
is seen with the combination of XP and Windows 2003.

So what is the difference?

BTW: MAS90 is an ODBC database driven product and uses
Providex's ODBC driver.
Thanks,

Well, at least I now know what it is!
:-)

Sorry, I cannot help further, for I'm not sure what the issue is. Have you
tried to run the Program Compatiblity Wizard in XP?
