we have 2 network segment in our network, subnet 1 and subnet 3. a printer is
in subnet 3. PCs in subnet 1 cannot print to the printer. the printer guy
mention that to solve the problem we have to map the PCs to the server and
print through the server.

what is meant by "mapping PCs (computers) to server" and how is it done? we
are using SBS Windows 2003. subnet 1 and subnet 3 are configured to be 2
vLAN where subnet 1 cannot access subnet 3 and subnet 3 cannot access subnet
1. the server is in subnet 3.

thanks for your help

This question should go to the person who setup this network. However, if
subnet 1 and 3 don't access each, it may open the port for Remote Desktop
from subnet1 to access the server in subnet 3. If this is the case, enable
resource mapping on remote desktop so that the server can read the files in
the PC and print them from the server.
