I'm having trouble mapping a network drive from a PC with
Win 98 to a PC with WIN 2000.

An "Enter Network Password" Box pops up. The first line
says "Resource:" with the \\servername\sharedfile entered.
The next line - Password: is blank and the password
attached to the User Name for ther server does not work.

Any assistance would be great...

Try logging on the the 98 computer with a user account that exists on the
2000 PC.

Andre,
Have you found a solution to this yet?
I am working on the same issue.

If I map a drive in Win2kPro, it allows me to designate a
different user name to connect with.
My Computer | Tools | Map Network Drive... |
You'll see the link stating "Connect using different user
name."
This works well for the Win2kPro PC. But I need to know
if Win98 has the same functionality.??
Thanks,
Rob

Windows 98 does not have this capability.

win98 does not have that function..

map win98 to w2k ...set up a user account using the "windows login" name on
the win98 machine and assign permissions.

when you log on to win98 , it will be verified by the w2k "server" and will
allow mapping of drives without asking for a password.
