I have a W98se machine on a W2K domain with DNS and WINS, which all of a
sudden stopped being able to connect to one of the users mapped drives. I
thought it might be a naming issue, since the shared folder had a two word
name, so I created share names with both an underscore and hyphen between the
two words, but that didn't solve the problem. When I try to connect using the
Map Network Drive after right-clicking My Computer, I get the error "The
computer or sharename could not be found". When I try to connect using
Start>>>Run, I get "\\xxx\xxx does not exist". I have been able to map the
drive successfully in DOS prompt using the Net Use command, but am unable to
use the /persistent switch, so that the user has to manually remap after each
logon. Can anyone tell me what's going on with this maddening machine?
Thanks.

try a name with 8 characters or less (with no symbols _/[] etc.)
