Does anyone know if its OK to connect 2 phones, both of which have a REN of
1.0, to the phone port of a BT filtered faceplate ? Or in other words, how
great a loading in terms of REN can be put on the filter inside the BT box
before its performance is compromised ?

Many thanks

AAR

It's designed for a normal domestic phone setup - which is required to work
with devices with a total REN of 4 - and will probably actually support more
than 4. It doesn't matter whether the phones are plugged into the phone
socket on the front, or plugged into extension sockets - whose wiring
connects to the back of the faceplate.

Shouldn't think you'll have problems. The REN 1.0 figure is common, while
for many (modern) phones, the real value is likely to be a fraction of 1.

I was told by someone testing some other kit that it was not uncommon to
need 2-3 dozen phones to reach the 1.0 level. I'm not using a filtered
faceplate but a plug-in microfilter can handle quite a lot of phones,
plus caller display, fax/answerphone, and the faceplate could have a
better quality filter in it so again, you should not need to worry!
