If I use a router and hook up 2 pc's (which are likely to use the connection
at the same time) to it. Is it best to have a 512 kbps connection or a 1024
kbps?
Thanx, Vin

Many organisations have 40+ users connected via 512k ADSL. But it
depends on your requirements - if you plan to listen to the radio on
each PC then maybe 3-4 PC's on a 512k link.

Andy

If you don't mind me asking ...
What data rates do you get transferring large files through VPN ?

Andy

Thanks for the info.
I thought I'd heard somewhere it was inefficient, but obviously isn't
affecting you.
I've never actually used it but was considering it.
I guess I'll give it a go now.

Hi Eric,

I have a 512k ADSL connection and use a VPN Client (SecuRemote) to open a
VPN connection to my client in Paris. I regularly download large zip files
from their LAN - 50MB zip is currently taking about 20 - 30 mins. However,
when the LAN in Paris is busy, download times are reduced quite a bit...

Works fine for me though...

regards,

James

One important bit of information that I missed off was that I'm not
using any OS's native VPN client. Due to work requirements I use a
VPN client developed by AT&T.
