i've got w2k3 ent. i've got a lot of apples speaking through appletalk. i
need to share files with them, but AFAIK they cannot authorize through
native apple protocol, so i added guest access to allow them access to
"microsoft uam" folder and to allow them to install it. till now everything
works fine.

but after allowing guest access windows clients (mostly w2k pro) access
as guest instead of show a dialog to ask for credentials. how i can make
them access without guest? active directory is on the way, but it take some
time to implement it and i would like to have something more user-friendly
than "net use x: \\srv /user:trusted"..

tia

Hi Daniel!

Once the UAM is installed on the Macs, you can disable the Guest account,
which you should do anyway for security's sake. The UAM will allow the Macs
to access the server using Microsoft authentication, which is what you're
probably after by installing it in the first place.

To avoid this problem as you go, you may just want to burn the UAM to a CD
and install it on the Macs from there or put it in a shared email folder.

Hope this helps! bill
