I have a two belkin routers that I want to cover a large area. I can put
the 1 extra router on the end of the coverage of the first and set it to be
an AP in the set up menu. But it doesn't seem to extend the singnal from the
1st router.

Has anyone done this before? I set the ssid to the same on both routers and
it doesn't seem to work still.

Can the router be configured to be a repeater?

http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/i...f_repeater.htm

Bad reference. The "repeater" in the article is in reference to the
difference between a hub and a switch. A hub is officially a
"repeater" in that it repeats everything that goes into one port out
the others. This has nothing to do with the question.

I didn't answer the question because there isn't the slightest clue as
to which model Belkin routers are involved. What he's looking for is
WDS (wireless distribution something) that is the acronym for a store
and forward wireless repeater. Without knowing the model number and
firmware revision, I can't tell from here if the unspecified Belkin
routers support WDS.

All I know from work ( I don't have it here) is that it is the 802.11b rev
2000 I believe
Does that help?

Does Belkin PS4987-A sound familiar? I have one of these in a box
on the shelf. Piece of junk in my never humble opinion. I was
getting constant hangs and timeouts on the wired part of the router.
No updates or fixes available. I never got to the wireless part to do
any testing. Anyway, it will NOT do WDS (wireless distribution
something) store and forward repeater service.
