Hi.

Has anyone been able to set up MacOsX (Panther) with a
Windows Server 2003 AD domain?
I get the fileserver to work with the Macintosh client
but not the print-services. How do I get the client to
authenticate when printing to a windows server 2003?

/Jon

Hi Jon!

How are your Macs sending print jobs to the server? Have you chosen the
server using Appletalk on the Mac or have you selected another print method
such as LPR or Windows printing?

If you have Print Services for Macintosh running on the server, then your
server's print queues are open to all Appletalk print jobs without
authentication by default.

Hope this helps! bill

I'm not using Appletalk. I want the clients to
authenticate when printing. I tried using IP-printing
(LPD/LPR) without success. Windows printing doesnīt work
either.
Under "security" on my printers I have removed "Everyone"
for security reassons.

Hi Jon!

I haven't tested the output, but when I go into Panther and set up a printer
using Windows printing (Option-click + Add --> Windows Printing drop-down
menu --> "Add" my server' name), I am asked to authenticate. I also have the
option to store my name and password to the server in the Keychain on the
Mac as well.

When you say it doesn't work, what exactly are you referring to? Setting up
the connection? Entering the user information? The act of printing?

Thanx! bill

Interesting! And you're specifically choosing the "Windows Printing" option
(not LPR)?
