I have a Mac G4 OS 9.04.
I have install the support tools on the win 2003 file
server.
When I try to select the windows file server from the mac
Chooser menu I get an Authentication error.
Are there any download that can be installed on the Mac to
allow it to communicate with Active Directory.

Hi Bruce!

Your server is set to require Microsoft Encrypted Authentication by default,
which is something that Macs don't do natively. Microsoft does create a User
Authentication Module (UAM) to install on the Macs to allow them to
authenticate users to the server with stronger methods. This is not an
Active Directory issue.

I'll refer you to this page on Microsoft's website for detailed information
about the UAM.

You can choose to use either the UAM for a more secure authentication
between Macs and the server or you can set your server to allow Apple clear
text passwords using the Computer Management module.

Hope this helps! bill
