It seems others have the same issue with Leopard. Hav eyou enabled Windows
Sharing on the Mac?

How about?
The smb.conf file is updated to include the line "acl check permissions =
no" in order to provide expected permissions behavior for Windows clients
connecting to the SMB service.

I don't have enough experience in OSx, but from experience, whenever my one
client's Mac guy decides to update the Mac users (25% of the company
including the boss'), little things like this pop up and they blame Windows
until I hunt down the problem by searching Google and Apple's site to find
it to be a setting in the OSx upgrade that is disabled by default.
I believe for your peace of mind, this is a question better suited to post
to a Mac related newsgroup to get better exposure with those that have
installed the update.
