So here is a strange one - for me anyway.
I have had the mn-500 for about 2 years. I use wep and
mac filtering. The mn-500, naturally, reported to me my
computer's mac address. I used it and all was fine.
I decided to upgrade to 54G. I bought a d-link di-524.
During setup, the same computer now showed with a
different mac address! Nothing about the computer has
changed except the base station.
The d-link sucked. I found an mn-700 on clearance since
MS abandoned the wireless market. During setup ... I
noticed a very strange thing. The mn-700 showed my
computer connected twice! And with two different mac
addresses - the old one I used with the mn-500 and the
new one the d-link found!
I have added nothing to this machine during this time!
I have never seen this. The mn-700 works flawlessly with
two mac addresses for my computer.
Any ideas what is going on here? Due to remodeling at my
house, I haven't even begun to hook up my wireless
computers.
