Sorry if this appears a basic newbie Q. I have decided to sign up with
Virgin media £10/pm 2MB offer and have requested & received my MAC code from
my current provider (EFH Broadband). As I will be going from ADSL to cable
do I still need this mac code? If I understand correctly, when requesting a
mac your current provider continues to supply the service until the new ISP
takes over the line. But as I will now be on cable what happens to the ADSL
line. Once VM is set up and running do I need to request BT remove it from
my line or will I continue to be charged by the current provider even though
I'm not using the ADSL line?

No, there's no connection at all, just sign up with Virgin and after
their cable connection is up and running, cancel your existing ADSL.

You don't talk to BT about this, you yourself have no contract with them for
broadband. Your ISP will handle it.

At one time BT charged for terminating an ADSL service btw

You WILL seriously end up regretting it guaranteed. You need to do a
search on Virgin media and quick!

No you just cancel the ADSL with your existing provider and that's it.
Get it all in writing where possible.

Dont you dare cancel the ADSL until you have used Virgin for a few
weeks or you will regret it.

I couldn't agree more. Virgin was a HUGE disappointment to me.
