Hi,

I ask this question because I am testing a linux-based IP phone's
security. I have used Windows and Linux for long time and also do a lot
if programming in Linux.

If it is possible for snooper to set Mac address, he will can steal
other people's "ip line". we can go to think what happen subsquently.

Thanks in advance

I don't really understand what you mean by snooper, but

1) root can change an ethernet card's MAC address if the card supports this
2) anyone can forge packets on a LAN with fake MAC addresses
3) MAC addys don't make it onto the Internet (an IP network, no MAC)

Relying purely on a MAC address is probably a bad security choice, just
like relying purely on say an IPort pair.
