Well, that certainly makes sense, but can you give us a clue what
driver and kernel this is?

You mentioned Red Hat, and just by coincidence, they did have a release
called 'cartman' but that was _years_ ago (RH6.1 from October 1999 with
a 2.2.12 kernel.
