I've got the Netgear M814 (v2) wireless router setup in my home.
Recently I acquired a laptop with the Centrino chipset and (for all
you that follow the Centrino problems) can guess that everything
stopped working.
I upgraded the Netgear's firmware to Rev 3.505 (the latest that I can
find). I also reconfigured the "power" settings in WinXP to insure
that the chips didn't lose connectivity during power-saving cycles.
That fixed the Centrino connectivity problem, but now I have another
problem.
I seems that the connection is fine, but when browsing the web, a
significant percentage of the time I get the "page not found, check
your settings, etc. error" in Internet Explorer. But go to another
URL, and then back, and the page appears. It appears to be a DNS issue
-- I've replicated the behavior from the command line doing a ping -a
command (trying to resolve the name). Other services (SMTP for
example) work consistently well.
I noticed that (previously) when a machine got the IP configuration
from the Netgear (it is the DHCP server), it got a real DNS-server
address(es), but that now, it gives ITSELF (the Netgear's address) as
the DNS server....
Is anyone else having this same problem? any suggestions for a fix
(short of sledge-hammering the Netgear).
any help is appreciated...
