Hi,
I'm new to LVS (Linux Virtual Server) but I've pass through the How to and
built an LVS-NAT box. I have a few networking questions about setting up LVS
in Direct Routing mode.
1) Documentation says that servers (Director and Real Servers) in Direct
Routing configuration need to be on the same segment. Is it the same
physical segment (i.e. the same switch) or the same IP subnet?
2) If I have real servers in 2 different subnets, can I have my LVS box
connect to both subnets (using 1 NIC for each subnet) for Load Balancing?
3) Can LVS-DR be done with two different switches? Let's say I have 2 LVS
boxes in failover plugged into 2 different switches for redundancy.
I have to build LVS servers for adding Load Balancing to our hosting
architecture. LVS-NAT is quite easy to set up but I'd like to see if LVS-DR
could be set up in our current architecture since it would be best in terms
of performance for the long term. Otherwise, I'll go the NAT route.
Thanks for your input.
