Ok so came here to search for the answer and i went through a lot of them
and none of them fixed the problem.

Steps already done.

Ran Antivirus - found nothing
Ran sasser cleaning tools - found nothing
Patched system.

the server still reboots at least once a week and here is a shutdown log:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <SETSystemStateData>
- <Header>
<ReliabilityGuid>0b5830d4-1084-4257-9090-0ce5bc80e1e1</ReliabilityGuid>
<ReasonTitle>No title for this reason could be found</ReasonTitle>
<InitiatingProcess>winlogon.exe</InitiatingProcess>
<RestartDate>2005-11-21</RestartDate>
<RestartTime>5-6-32 (Pacific Standard Time(480))</RestartTime>
<ReasonCode>0x50006</ReasonCode>
<RestartType>restart</RestartType>
<b> <Comment>The system process 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe' terminated
unexpectedly with status code -1073740972. The system will now shut down and
restart.</Comment> </b>
<SystemUptime>0 12:15:57.590</SystemUptime>
<UserLanguageID>0x0409</UserLanguageID>
<SystemLanguageID>0x0409</SystemLanguageID>
<SchemaVersion>1.0</SchemaVersion>

I need to get this fixed and I am stumped on what I can do. It will suck if
I have to give it a reformat, due to the fact that this server is across the
country.

Buy the 9.95 subscription on www.experts-exchange.com,
and post your question there. I've had good luck on the site

cheers

had the exact same problem once... turned out i had a card in a pci slot
that was overheating and the system was rebooting. just wanted to throw the
idea out there that it might not be software related
