Low Signal on 1 Laptop

I've got a weird issue. I have 4 laptops that connect to a Linksys Access
Point. From the same location in my home, 3 of the laptops have an
excellent signal, while 1 laptop has a low signal.

The low signal laptop HAD a strong/excellent signal, until recently, when
the signal strength degraded. This laptop has a Linksys WPC11 card and runs
XP. It's my primary laptop for surfing, so I'd like it to have a better
signal. Anyone have any ideas as to what may have degraded the signal?

Thanks much,
Chuck

Hi Chuck,

It sounds like your WPC-11 in that laptop has possibly gone bad. If you
have another WPC-11 in another laptop, try swapping it. If the problem follows
the card, then the card is bad. If the problem stays with the original laptop,
then you might have a software problem. What happens if you approach the access
point with the laptop ??? Does the signal go to 100 % ???? Radio frequency
energy is funny--you can have a strong signal in one spot and a weak signal 1
inch away. Try re-orienting your access point--raise it up if possible.

Yep, I found that I couldn't get a good signal on my desk so I swapped the
PC card for Orinoco USB adapter which is now on a sideboard next to my desk
but 5' high.

Martin
