Lost TCP/IP for wireless

On a Windows 98 SE machine, I installed a Linksys USB
wireless adapter that was working fine until I visited the
MS Office update site and downloaded an installer that was
necessary to receive upgrades. Since then, the adapter no
longer finds the IP address automatically -- it has to be
entered manually -- and there is no longer a
specific "TCP/IP for wireless adapter" available when I
add a protocol. It's just plain vanilla TCP/IP with no
description. What happened to my adapter-specific protocol?

YThanks.

Have you tried re-installing the driver for the wireless adaptor? Also, if
you only have one NIC, you will only see TCP/IP without a description.
Windows figures, if you only have one NIC, you don't need a pointer. If you
have more than one NIC, this includes modems, you will see the pointer to
the specific device, ie TCP/TP -> Wireless Adaptor.
