A laptop was on OLDDOMAIN.LOCAL it had a P: Drive that was mapped to a
OLDSERVER\SHARE and set to Make Available Offline. The MY DOCUMENTS folder
was redirected to the OLDSERVER but also available offline. If the laptop
was disconnected from the OLDSERVER network all files on the P: Drive and in
'My Documents' were available locally on the laptop.
I moved the laptop to NEWDOMAIN.LOCAL. I went into Documents and Settings to
copy the offline files from the OLDPROFILE.OLDDOMAIN to the
NEWPROFILE.NEWDOMAIN. Much to my surprise there is no 'My Documents' folder
in the OLDPROFILE.OLDDOMAIN folder. I cannot locate any of the files that
were offline from the P: Drive. Where did all those files go? Can I get them
back?
I have reformated the server and it is now the PDC for the NEWDOMAIN.LOCAL
so I don't have access to the server (OLDSERVER) and to the files that I
thought were backed up on the Offline folders on the laptop. There is
another domain controller that is the PDC for OLDDOMAIN.LOCAL. If I put the
laptop back into the OLDDOMAIN with the same user account would I be able to
see those offline folders again even though the OLDSERVER has been
reformated?
Is there any way to gain access to those offline files that were on the
laptop before I put it into the NEWDOMAIN.LOCAL?
Thanks,
Kristian
