'Lost' migration

Hi,

I've recently requested a migration from BT to Metronet. On the morning
of the migration I was unable to connect to BT as expected and I waited
eagerly for our new connection with Metronet to start. And waited. And
waited.

Nearly two weeks later and having spent several hours on the phone to
BT and Metronet (ended up speaking to knowledgeable professional people
at both companies) and exchanging a few emails it appears that my
migration has been 'lost' or delayed at something called 'ISN
Provisions' who apparently handle all ADSL connections for the UK.

There was talk of some 5000 lost migrations being handled manually by
contractors at a rate of 500 per week, meaning a possible 10 week delay
without ADSL, but this has not been mentioned since.

Has anyone else had their migration lost? Does this story ring true at
all, or am I being sold a line? Is there anyway out of this dead-end
where I can't go forward and can't go back to my old provider?

The best that anyone can offer me so far is to cancel the migration and
request a new MAC and start again, but this possibility is still being
checked with ISN Provisions (at least, that's what I'm being told).

Any observations/advice/sympathy gratefully received.

Thanks,

Andy

well you've my sympathy, at least but in the meantime, to see how honest
the story is (and I've no reason to doubt Metronet), why not contact as
many of the websites as you can - adslguide.org, silicon.com, vnunet.com,
uk-bug.net, net4now.co.uk, ispreview.co.uk, netmag.co.uk, pcpro.co.uk,
theregister.co.uk, and no doubt there are plenty more (though some of the
ones I wrote may be the publisher of numerous mags and watch out for those
idiots which insist on you using Macromedia Flash to see their darn site!!!
