I don't know about Wireless G, but my Linksys WPC11 does not have any
problem. I have a Linksys wireless router and 4 PCs, 1. XP wired, 2. ME
wireless, 3. XP wireless, and 4. 98SE wireless, and they all share printers
and files. My 98SE does not display the current IP anywhere. How did you
see yours? I'm wondering if you may have looked at Network Properties to
see your IP. If so, you should not see it there, instead it will say
"Obtain IP Address Automatically". Just guessing, but are you using a fixed
IP in your wireless 98SE configuration? That COULD explain your problem.
Make sure all your wireless PC's do not have any TCP/IP settings configured.
They should be getting everything IP, DNS, WINS resolution, gateway, etc.
through DHCP.
You should NOT install NetBEUI on any of your PC's. Carey Holtzman's page
is good, although he suggests enabling more protocols than you really need.
The only protocol you need is TCP/IP on all PC's. All you need for file and
printer sharing is to make sure on EVERY PC that they have the checkbox for
"Enable Netbios over TCP/IP" checked. My Win98SE grays it out, but shows a
check behind the gray.
Lastly, make sure your share names are short and do not contain spaces. (I
think there's a 8 or 10 character limit).
Beware, if you change your network configuration, you will probably have to
re-add any network printers at each PC. It's a pain.
