If it's Win98 you are working with, I remember a problem in the past wiuth
the Win98 virtual redirector when theredirector looses connectivity to a
Wni2000 or 2003 system and the only way to fix it is to restart or apply a
hotfix. But I'm not sure if the hotfix is still available or not, nor
whether this applies to you or not because the information you gave is
somewhat vague other than mentioning an application and saying you loose
connectivity.
Also if the servers are 2003 DCs, there are issues with SMB signing.
But I can offer you the articles and you can call PSS. The hotfix is free,
that is if they determine the problem will be fixed bythe hotfix.
It can also be based on a simple bad wire or a bad switch port. You will
have to manually test that. You would be surprised how this can be the major
cause of intermittent issues.
If it's with XP, all I can say is make sure the latest SPs and fixes are
installed and the firewall is disabled or allowing that sort of traffic.
Good luck!
