I am running windows xp pro 64 bit - connected to a linksys wired router, I
have 3 computers running thru this router....

about daily, I lose the net connection, I have tried to go into the net
connection window and tried to repair the connection.. I have got to the CMD
window and tried to release and renew the IP, but it just doesnt work.... the
only way to get back on the net is to reboot my computer....

the other two compters are running windows xp 32 bit versions and dont have
a problem ....

im with charter communications and on a 10 meg connection....

its getting to the point about every few hours I have to reboot....

any ideas on this? if you need more info, let me know..

im just a rookie when it comes to the internet settings etc....

thanks
jT

this group is actually for the now discontinued Microsoft branded
networking hardware and you should post in one of the networking
newsgroups.

That said, you should

1. look for newer drivers for your wired NIC card
2. look for newer firmware for your Linksys router (you don't say
which one)
3. set the lease time higher on the Linksys router.

1 & 2 are likely places to look

if this does not help, please post in one of the networking
newsgroups and give full specifics of your NIC/driver -
router/firmware and what you have tried so far.

Revisit the capacity of your disk space. This may help. Look for pop ups
as a reminder.
