Losing Connectivity, Netgear Wireless

Here's the situation: I have two computers, one on the first floor of
my condo, one on the second floor of my condo. The rooms are right on
top of eachother. The computer on the first floor has a netgear MR314
router. The cable comes from the wall, plugs into the router, and
then plugs into this pc. The computer on the second floor has a a
wireless card (MA401).

I have owned this setup for over a year now. All of a sudden, my
upstairs computer has been randomly losing its internet connection.
It's constantly up and down. Sometimes for just a few seconds, other
times for minutes.

I know the problem is with my upstairs wireless connection. Doing a
continuous ping of my router from upstairs, i can see it just randomly
reply and randomly time out. At the same time I ping the router from
my hardwired downstairs computer and I get a constant reply. No
problems downstairs.

I have called Netgear about 4 times, and I can barely understand them
to begin with. They've walked me through reinstalling my card a bunch
of times, and we've tried a number of drivers. Nothing has resolved
the issue, and I don't want to call back and wait on hold for 20
minutes.

I have reason to believe that something could be interfering with my
signal. Possibly in one of the adjacent condo's? Is there anything
out there that is known to interfere with it? This weekend my
connection was fine, no problems at all. I thought the problem was
fixed. I think, although im not positive, that it only happens during
certain times of day, usually in the evening. Although I haven't been
home that much during the work week to be totally sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two comments,

If the interference is random, and mostly during evening hours, it's a good
guess it's neighbor interference. Did someone just move in next to you, or
buy a new microwave near that wall?

You likely don't undersatand them, because all NETGEAR tech support
technicians are located in New Delhi, India. The 1-800 number goes there.
If you don't belive me, wait on hold, and ask him where he's located.

might also be a wireless 2.4GHz phone, it's not like that a oven stays
on for so long.

No new neighbors have moved in, and I really don't talk to any of the
old ones, so I'm not sure.

But this problem was fine for about 3 days over the weekend. But then
last night it started up again. I just turned on my computer this
morning, and like last week, it started up and I had no connection. I
started pinging my router and I keep getting "destination host
unreachable." That happens for about ten minutes, and then I just
continue to get "timed out"s.

I don't think a microwave would be causing this since the duration of
timeouts are so long. When it goes down, it goes down for a while.
It will come back a lot, but not for long. I'll get a couple replies,
a couple time outs, 7 replies, 8 time outs, 1 reply, 100 time outs,
100 replies 2 time outs. Thats what I mean by being random.

I believe ya on the New Delhi thing. Those converstations are so
difficult!

As per previous, try changing the frequency of the base unit, 7 is preferred
as it kicks out the highest power. If this does not work, try a new client
adapter to see if the problem changes.
