Losing connection to network shares

After a period of time, two of my PCs, both running Win98
on the LAN loose their connection to the network.
After a random time, a PC is unable to see the other PCs
or print to the common printer. When this happens, I am
still able to ping the other machines on the network from
this PC.
Shutting down and rebooting the PC causes it to reconnect.
The other PCs are running XP and do not give this problem.
This appears to be a similar problem as David is
experiencing.
