when i try configure a static ip on the 2 nic's in my w2003 server it fails.

- i enter manualy the static ip in tcp/ip settings
- click the ok button
- when i check the settings again, they are still man assigned
- click twice ok
- recheck the settings and the radio button stands on auto assing ip and
the manually entered static ip is gone!

scanned for virus, malaware, spyware,.....
it's a standalone win2003 server with 2 nic's
there s always one that holds it's ip, the other one has lmost it on reboot

any help would b welcome.

TX

Hello nico,

You should avoid multiple ip addresses on a server. What's the reason for
this? What role's/function's does the server have?

Best regards

As Meinolf asked, what's the reason for the two NICs?

That said, this problem is usually a bad NIC driver/config issue. You can
open the registry & go to HKLM\System\Current Control Set\Control\Network,
carefully find & remove all references to your NICs. Uninstall the NICs in
device manager. Reboot. Then when they're detected & reinstalled, try again.
This is the only way I've found to fix this problem.

the server is a standalone terminal win2003 server.
we use a fast internetline to get connected to the internet in that lan.

i would connect our second nic to a second internetconnection with fixed ip
to let external users logon to the terminal server, and nothing else.
Isn't that possible then?

regards,
N.
