General Meeting is scheduled for Tomorrow Thursday, February 26th at

General meetings are held monthly on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Michael Keegan, Mayor of Hermosa Beach will be presenting at the next
SOCALWUG meeting, Thursday February 26th, 2004:

"Imagine living in a town where you're able to move your laptop from one
place to the next without ever having to log off from cyberspace. You can
leave a coffee shop, travel down to the beach and then over to a park, all
the while still surfing the Internet, free of charge."

How do you plan to afford all this?
I am curious as I too would LOVE to do this in my area but the costs
seem daunting!

The key basis seems to be to have the highest population density of
geeks in the world
If you are not paying someone to setup the nodes, then to cover even
small areas requires large numbers of APs.
As someone is unlikely to go out and buy tens of thousands of APs, it
means convincing people to put them where they live.
Then you've got the problem of filling the holes between the geeks.
