My wife and I have an mn700 and each have a mn720 card
for our laptops. The problem is I keep loosing my
connection, even while she is on and doen't loose hers.
All setting are the same on both laptops including OS win
xp. The laptops are Toshiba satelite 1110 and Compaq
Presario 2190. Any help would be appreciated.

I also occasionally lose the connection with the MN700,
for no apparent reason. I do have a couple 2.4G cordless
phones, but if it's going to be such a hassle, then the
routers need to change frequencies.

Anybody with any hints about why our signals are dropping?

Thanks
Dan

A couple things you might look at, Rob: (1) On the MN-720 side of things,
are you on the proper channel, (2) are you within range of the signal, not
snuggled up next to the refrigerator or beside a washer/dryer combo and (3)
what is set on the MN-700 for your lease time?

If you're on Channel 6, for instance, and your laptop is on 5, you might
drop out. Home environment can play a big part of the signal strength,
including perhaps the base station itself being too close to a wall. And,
if the MN-700 is renewing the lease constantly, it could be an issue. Set
it for two weeks.

Additionally, if the channels are properly matched, try moving from the
default 6 to 1 or 11 and see if there's a difference. Sometimes also the
location of the base station - too high or too low, or next to a monitor
will cause drop-outs.

Chris I use it in the living room across the room from my
wife about 5 ft, she has a connection while I loose mine
both are on the same channel. When I loose my connection
my signal strenght is still at excellent and 54 MPS. My
wife dosen't seem to have any troubles keeping her
connection, both computers are set up the same in the
same location with the same interferance etc. but I loose
my connection and she doesn't

Then I would check, if you're using WEP and not WPA, to make sure 802.1x
authentication is turned off. Look at the properties of your LAN icon in
Network Connections. If you're constantly losing the connection, and then
it is found again, it is failing to authenticate, then "discovers" a
wireless connection and offers it to you, then can't authenticate and
disconnects. Never-ending circle.

Same thing happened to me for awhile.
Connected to internet for a couple of hours, then off for
about 5-7 minutes (sometimes even at startup), then back
on for a couple of more hours etc.
I'd look to see if the 'Received' numbers would change in
the Network Connection status so I could go back on.
Thought it was just Comcast doing some scheduled maintenance....
....until I ran Ad-aware6 (free for home use):
http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
and got rid of about 96 elements of spyware.
Don't know what the connection is, but there's been ZERO interruptions
since.

LOL! I cleaned out a friend's system the other day, and it had over 500
Trojans lurking about. Bad scene, and the machine was slow, slow, slow.
Everything is fine again now.
