if you are using a router and have all the security patches for your
operating system, it isn't likely that anyone will "get into" your computer.
the built in Stateful Inspection firewall and the inherent protection of NAY
keep you safe. Also, these standby buttons are more trouble than they are
worth. you have to renegotiate the lease for the modem and for the router.
this is a timing issue and if there is a delay getting a lease, you would
have the problems you document. there also could be (and probably is) an
issue with the way MN-700 obtains it's lease, where it seems to also want to
resync to the time server. all in all, the way to avoid the issue is to NOT
put the modem in standby.
