You could try Net Stumbler.

Thanks, Unfortunatly it doesn't support my Sony VAIO. Anything else out
there like this? Doesn't have to be freeware.

Had the same problem with Netstumbler
I didn't work with my Belkin.

When I removed it, the uninstall software also took out my
Belkin software. So I had to reinstall the Belkin software again.

What is Kismet? http://www.kismetwireless.net/
Kismet is an 802.11 layer2 wireless network detector, sniffer, and
intrusion detection system. Kismet will work with any wireless card
which support raw monitoring (rfmon) mode, and can sniff 802.11b,
802.11a, and 802.11g traffic. Kismet is fully passive and undetectable
when in operation. Kismet automatically tracks all networks in range
and is able to detect (or infer) hidden networks, attack attempts,
find rogue access points, and find unauthorised users.

Why not just use the survey mode of the Belkin Adapter Manager?

A couple of others to try: Segue at www.pctel.com, and WinC at www.cirond.com .
Maybe Boingo at www.boingo.com.

www.boingo.com is a combination sniffer and directory of hotspots.
There is no logging output, so you can't map with a GPS like NetStumbler,
but it probably works with any card.

I tried the survey mode.
When I attempted to 'access' any other than my own router the wireless
device locked up the pc.
