I have to make some tecnical evaluation of wireless solution, so I want to
hear about some experience about mentioned vendors.
We are in a decision making phase and I must say it's not very easy
since this is our first contact with this technology. The platforms
which are offered (the one we should choose from) are following:

Cisco Aironet 1200/350 (against cisco aironet 350 client adapters)
U.S Robotics USR805450 (against USR 805410/USR805416 client adapters)
3Com AP6000 (against 3Com 11M PCMCI/PCI client adapters)
D-Link DWL-7000AP (against DWL-AG650/DWL-AG520 client adapters)
Colubris C1050/1000 (against cisco aironet 350 client adapters)

Can anyone please provide any experience on the above mentioned
platforms? Please consider that price is not our major attribute. We are
mostly focused on the technical performance eider for indoor and outdoor
including:

1. range
2. throughput
3. security
4. compatibility of the access point with the different vendor client
adapters.
5. central management software to respond network expansion
6. antennas and accessories

Thank you in advance for any kind of help.

If you are expecting support from the manufacturer of any of this
equipment the only one I have experience of is D-Link and my advice is
to avoid them.

I used their website to request support and it took 2 days to respond
saying "Good question. I don't know the answer but will find out". Fair
enough, I much prefer honesty to bullshit, except that one week later
I'd not heard anything so wrote again (2 weeks ago) and got no reply.
In the UK they have toll free support so rang that number, again no idea
of the answer but would escalate the request and I should hear back
within 48 hours - no response after 240 hours!

Due to the circumstance my supplier took back the goods for a full
refund. I wonder if D-Link ever see postings like this and wonder what
the cost is of lost sales due to non-existent support? My last
communication with D-Link was an e-mail to the sales enquiry address on
their website asking them to intervene and get some answer for me from
support, it was after this went unanswered that I sought a refund from
their re-seller. The equipment seemed OK and did all that was required,
but if support from a manufacturer is absolutely zero they are not the
sort of people I want to do business with.
