Looking for an 8mps service

Hi,

I'm currently on a Zen package which gives me 2mbs, unlimited downloads (and
I do mean unlimited - it's an excellent service). Zen have recently
announced they're changing the contract terms from March 1, which means I
will have a 100GB monthly cap. It won't be a serious problem for me - 100GB
is still pretty generous and I can schedule my heavy download requirements
accordingly.

However, I've been thinking about upgrading to an 8mps service, but Zen only
offer this speed with a 50GB max monthly cap - which isn't any use to me -
or a business deal of unlimited downloads at 8mbs - but also a very hefty
price tag..

Are there any UK ISPs that offer an 8mps service with a cap around the 100GB
mark (I won't dare to ask about an unlimited downloads!!)? Reliability and
decent support are also issues I want to consider.

I guess I will end up staying with Zen - I'm very happy with them - but I
thought I would check around anyway, to see if I can find a suitable 8mps
service.

Thanks

Well the first thing you've got to get straight now is that no one offers a
guaranteed 8Mb service.

Sure, I understand the limitations :-) But overall, I'm looking for a faster
speed - which a decent 8mps service should give me, compared to a 2mps
service.
Thanks for the reply.

BT's Option 3 package is now unlimited (subject to fair use).

Seems to be very good just got activated today the only fault I can
find is there seems to be no way of having static IP's for networked
computers and apparently no DMZ facility .
I may have to end up putting the home hub in the useless cupboard and
getting a wireless router .

I currently pay about £35/month, but would be willing to go a bit higher for
a good service. Say about £50 tops.
Thanks

Hi

I am with UKO (8mb@ £24.99 per month) and whilst they have a FUP....

http://www.ukonline.net/footerpages/...php?sso_auth=0

I have not heard of anyone having any restrictions on their account due to
excessive downloading. The 100GB limit that you mention would seem quite
small compared to what some people claim they download via UKO each and
every month.

The other ISP that I would consider is Be.....

https://www.bethere.co.uk/

They advertise...

a.. Up to 24 meg download speed
b.. Up to 1.3 meg upload speed
c.. Unlimited usage
d.. Free wireless Be Box modem
for £24.99 per month.

I imagine somewhere they might have a type of FUP, again I am aware of
people claiming that they have yet to encounter any issues with their
download, often being way in excess of the 100GB that you quote.
Both the above are, of course, LLU providers and it would depend on whether
they offer their service at your exchange.

Contract periods, distance from exchange etc etc etc are all going to be
factors, as well as others, in your decision making.

Oh no I didn't so please post in context. Don't do a Jimmy Windsoar & edit
the post you're replying to to suite your own agenda, but your question does
still stand & many ISPs won't (or should that be can't) give you a straight
answer
