How long does it take to get a MAC key from Plus Net?

I am looking to migrate from Plus Net to Sky Broadband, and I have been
waiting over 2 weeks for Plus Net to get my MAC Key. Plus Net is blaming
their LLU supplier.

Meanwhile my Sky Broadband activation key is getting closer to its expiry
date. To add insult to injury, my Plus Net broadband has been going up and
down like a whore's knickers!

AFAIK there is no official, guaranteed way that transfers away from LLU can
be swiftly dealt with by the MAC system, although Plusnet are trying this
out (ping Eeyore!).
The problem is, not many ISPs are accepting LLU MACs.
You might want to raise this direct with Plusnet - maybe via their own
newsgroup - plusnet.service.customer-feedback (obtainable via the news
server text.usenet.plus.net)

May be faster at http://usergroup.plus.net/forum/ as that's widely used by
the PUG and staff from the ISP too, and a delay being reported will likely
get some action (and be useful as input to getting positive change in
future for the benefit of all their customers).

Exactly and you may not be warned about this !

The whole issue of migrating from an LLU connection has been really badly ( not
) thought out.

This is what I suspect. Have lodge compliant with Ofcom, not sure if they
will do anything about it though.

Finally got my MAC Key from PlusNet (only a few days shy of a month from
application). Turns out Sky will not accept a LLU MAC Key and have asked to
go back to PlusNet to get a "Clear Line" release date! This essentially
means that I am terminating my service with PlusNet and then signing up with
Sky. What a pain!

The smart move, if you were suffering with your LLU connection or
hadn't been properly notified about your LLU migration in advance,
would have been to take your free migration back to IPStream with
PlusNet and then apply for a usable MAC key at your leisure.

Many thanks. I have requested this from PlusNet. Now waiting for a reply
from PlusNet to my request!
