I am running a application made in fox for MSDOS in novell 3.11(DOS) and we
are instaling a Windows Server 2003 as a File server, so need to know if
theirs a way to ... without instaling a windows OS (W95,W98, XP...) as
client, we could logon WINDOWS server 2003 and run this application. The
application is very lite ( access a dbf write, read and modifies, to a
shared folder in WS2003) and its the only thing this computer(client) does,
( we use it to control workers time ) nobody access the computer beacause its
in a case, only the card reader is out)

The reason think, its clear ... dont need to have a big amount of software
upload, if we are only going to use the application made on MSDOS-FOX (thats
on a folder on a file server (winser2003)

What we need to know if theirs a way to logon to WinSer 2003 and run the app
without loading any windows version of OS... ( could it be from DOS..???.)

thanks

If it's a DOS app, share the folder on the 2003 server, map a drive from the
users' workstations to the shared drive. So if you chose the letter 'X;'
for the mapped drive, then go into a command prompt, change to x: drive, and
run the executable.

Instead of the website you're using, try using OEx (Outlook Express
or any other newsreader), and configure a news account, pointing to
news.microsoft.com. Anonymous access. It's free - no username or password
required nor do you need a Newsgroup Usenet account with your ISP. It
connects directly to the Microsoft Public Newsgroups. OEx allows you
o easily find, track threads, cross-post, sort by date, poster's name,
watched threads or subject. It's easy:

Thanks for your response.

We can run the DOS app, that not the problem. The problem we need to solve
is to logon to WS2003 with a MSDOS machine and access a shared folder.

The computer in MSDOS is locked up in a cristal case (a card reader is the
only reacheble part to people), so we think we could put the username and
password in the autoexec, the problem is how to connect it with a boot disk
to a windows server 2003 and logon as a client accesing the shared folder.

thanks

I see. Create a network bootable and test it in another machine. When it
comes up and asks you to login, provide the username and the password. It
will automatically save that info into system.ini file in the DOS bootable.
Make sure on the 2003 machine, you disable signed packets by following this
article or else DOS will not be able to communicate to a 2003 DC.
