When attempting to logon to a w2k server (set up as workgroup only- not set
up as a DC or has AD installed) on win98 workstations I get the message "you
must supply a password to make this connection" with: //server/IPC$ .
Unless I logon initially as the administrator in win98 I am unable to change
the user name for the workstation account. Is there a workaround for this
until I install AD on the server and add user accounts for everyone? I am
waiting for a corporate office to tell me what the schema will be and need
to let users have access to several programs until next week.
TIA

In a workgroup, there must be an account on the win2K for each user logging
in to the win98. IE identical username/password on the win2k and win98 for
each user. This is because you do not have a server managing user accounts
when in a workgroup configuration.
