In my server 2003 sp2 enviornment I have 3 Domain Controller.
Typing the command set l at a command promt tells me what dc the user
account authenticated to. Is there a way i can force a pc to authenticate to
a particular dc without poweing off the others, of course. My PCs are running
XP pro sp2.

The first question I'd have to ask is why you'd want to do this - what's
your goal?

Hello Andy3691,

No, why will you do it? The authentication mostly use the way first come,
first serv. It is possible that the preferred DNS on the NIC will also be
used as logon server, if it is a DC. But it is not a must.

The reason why i was asking is because i am troubleshooting a problem which i
suspect involves one of my DCs. This particular DC may not be giving access
to shared network drives when users are connected to it from remote (vpn). I
wanted also to test it locally. I will try configuring my Nic so it
specifies the DC in question as the Primary. One other question, where by
default would the logon scripts be in server 2003 Domain controllers?

Hello Andy3691,

What do you mean does not give access, what is the error message when you
try to connect? How is the DNS setup onb that machine?

logon scripts you find here \\domain\netlogon
