I am trying to access my server and I get an error;
Error 2215: computername is not accessible. The logon
server cannot be found
I went to microsoft's website for support and it says to
create a workgroup and name it workgroup then restart the
computer and I can then access the network without cached
credentials. But I can't figure out how to set up this
workgroup. Anyone have a fix for this??

thank you but i already did that and it tells me to do
this
To resolve this behavior, join the Windows 2000-based
computer or a Windows Server 2003-based computer to a
workgroup named WORKGROUP, and then restart the computer.
Rejoin the computer to the domain, and then restart the
computer again. The computer no longer logs on through
cached credentials. i do not know how to add a workgroup
to this software can you tell me how to do what they say
to fix this?

Use the System applet, Network Identification tab.

sbs2003 automatically sets up as a domain controller. You cannot run it
as a workgroup server.

So you need to set up a domain account for the user, set its DNS to
point to the local DNS (probably the sbs server) and log in to the domain.

In news:2f0fb01c46bba$6447c250$(E-Mail Removed),
Shawn <(E-Mail Removed)> asked for help and I offered my suggestions
below:

If you;re using AD (SBS already set it up for you) and you are getting
'computername is not accessible' and 'logon server cannot be found' points
to a DNS resolution issue. Make sure your client machine is ONLY using the
SBS server's IP address for DNS. If you have an ISP's or some other DNS in
there, then I can see why this error shows up. AD uses DNS to 'find' the
domain and to 'find' the domain controller to authenticate. It does not work
like NT4.

This is all assuming of course, that you do have an AD account created and
the machine is joined to the domain.
