Logon with account name and password

I have a win98se machine that I need to add to my p2p network. The
machine was originally set up without a user or password (I'll call
this "no user" ) and, of course, could not be seen on the network.

I created a user and password and when I log on to this user
everything on the network is available.

The problem is that the machine always boots to the "no user" status.
I then have to log off and log on as the new user. When I look in the
user account in the Control Panel I see the new user I created but not
the "no user".

I want to be able to get rid of the "no user" account or possibly add
a password to it so it can get on the network more efficiently.

I applied the tweakui function (under the paranoia tab) that directs
which account will log on. This didn't work and the machine continues
boot up to the "no user" account.

Is there any fix for this?

Reverse the tweakui configuration. Make sure client for MS networks is the
default logon. Then try deleting the pwl files on the 98 machine. Restart.

Rob - Thanks for the response. When I search for pwl files, the only
one I find is the one that I created. There's none for the "no user"
account.

Should I be trying something else?

Try deleting your PWL first. If that doesn't work, you might try changing
the fault client logon to Windows Family. Reboot and change it back to
Client for MS Networks.
