logging on to Windows NT domain

Alright, first and foremost, I am a Linux virgin, so this is probably an
idiotically simple question...

How do I set up my newly installed and update RedHat 9 version to log on
to a Windows NT domain?

I know I am connected to the network because I have internet service...
but I have no idea how to actually log on.

Thanks in advance
Ed

That's a completely separate issue from simply sharing an Internet
connection. What you want is not simple, but it can be done with winbind,
which is part of Samba:
http://de.samba.org/samba/docs/man/S...n.html#WINBIND

You might also look at your Red Hat manuals. If you don't have the printed
manuals, the complete texts are online on redhat.com.

Rats. I was afraid it would be more complicated than the simple RedHat
9 installer. Alas... well this is good for me, I was getting too cocky
with Windows.

Well, as an experienced Windows user you know that domain logons and
file-sharing are vexing and difficult even in an all-Windows network.
Criminy, how many weirdo authentication protocols, and bizarre network
protocols, does windows have? I appreciate nice clean TCP/IP networking,
without WINS and netbeui and all that odd stuff. Though for joining a Linux
box to an NT domain, knowing all those things will be useful.
