When I log into my domain at work and then VPN into a customer site,
most computer actions slow to a crawl. Changing a directory on the C:
drive can take minutes. I have no problems if I VPN into the customer
site from home or if I VPN into the customer site before logging onto
my computer (although the subsequent log-in takes forever).
It appears to only happen when I VPN in after logging into my work
domain. My physical interface is assigned as follows:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : work.com
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit
Ethernet
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-16-D4-CZ-94-XY
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.xxx.1.30
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.192
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.xxx.1.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.xxx.2.4
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.xxx.2.3
10.xxx.2.4
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 10.xxx.2.4
Secondary WINS Server . . . . . . : 10.xxx.2.3
Something else that is strange is when I VPN in, I see DNS requests to
10.xxx.2.3 sourced from the VPN interface and DNS requests to 10.xxx.
2.4 sourced from the physical interface. Shouldn't the VPN stop these
DNS servers from even being queried?
Anyone have any suggestions?
