How to log wireless networktraffic without actually connecting ?

Hi,

I am looking for a hardware/software solution to log wireless network
traffic without connecting/log-in to the network itself.
I now use Network Stumbler, which logs some network traffic without
connecting, but I must always log-in to a network to see the rest of it in,
for instance, Etherreal and in case of an encrypted and/or MAC blocked
network, I must first set these parameters in order to see it.

Does anybody know an hardware/software combination that does the job,
preferably under Windows ?
Please some actual available wireless networkcards etc. I do not know what
to do with tips as "use Prism chipsets" or so, because when I am in the
store I cannot see which chipsets are in the cards ;-(

Thanks,

Ron.
