Hi all,

I running SBS 2003 within my network i'm running about 15
computers that uses window 2000 pro.

What i'd like to do is that before a user log on to the
network I want to have a popup window that a user MUST
click yes/accept in order to continue. For instance when a
computer is turned on before a user log in to his/her
computer a popup window display and he/she must click
yes/accept to continue logging in. Is this possible to
setup?

I'm not sure if I can do this on a local computer or does
it have to be done on my server.

Any suggestion/input is greatly apprecated.

Thanks,

Ed,

I dunno about yes or no, I suppose you could do it via a login script... I
know you can do a security box that requires a user to click OK to be able
to get to the ctrl-alt-delete login screen.

Hi Bill,

That might just work for me.

How do I go about setting that up?

Thanks,

Thanks Mitch,

I guessing this has to be done on the local computer. I'm
using window 2000 pro and under the administrative tool, I
do not have the active directory option.

Anything else i can try ?

Thanks,

Hi Ed:

It's been awhile since I've used SBS, but doesn't it include Active
Directory? Do your W2k workstations belong to a domain or workgroup?
Double-click on System in Control Panel and select the Network
Identification tab to find out.

If your workstations belong to a workgroup you can do the following on each
workstation:

Start --> Run --> type gpedit.msc --> OK

This opens Local Security Policy. Now expand the tree to find Computer
Configuration, Windows Settings, Security Settings, Local Policies, Security
Options. With Security Options selected you should be able to find these two
policies in the right pane:

Message text for users attempting to log on
Message title for users attempting to log on

Double-click on each of these and specify the message and message title you
want to appear when a user tries to log on e.g. "Warning! This computer is
government property" etc.

Log off and then on again and you should see the message

If your worksations belong to a domain then you can open the Active Diretory
Users and Computers console on the SBS machine by:

Start --> Run --> dsa.msc --> OK

right-click on your domain and select Properties, select the Group Policy
tab, select Default Domain Policy, click Edit, and then proceed as above.
Once Group Policy refreshes for the domain your workstations should display
the message.
