A person cannot use the local printer since he do not have
admin rights. The network policies give him right to print
over network but no rights over the local computer. The
printer in connected to the computer (as local printer).
We had to give him the admin right (in the users & groups
policies) to him to be able to use the printer. The
problem is we do not want him to have any admin rights to
the computer. Any suggestions to how to set the right to
use the local printer without give him the admin rights.

Thanks

If you are on a wireless network and using file and print
sharing then you wouldn't have to give someone else admin
rights to your computer, just share the printer out...are
you in a domain or workgroup?

Why couldn't you add them to the Print Operators Group and deny "Manage
Printers" They could still "Manage Documents" and print.

The default situation is that any user can use a Local Printer, so there's
something strange here.

Check that the user account has Print permission for the printer and that
CREATOR OWNER has Manage Documents permission.

If this doesn't help, I suggest posting your problem in the
microsoft.public.win2000.printing or microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax.
There's quite a few knowledgeable people hang out there that can probably
help you out. Make sure you say what make and model of printer it is, as
this can be a vital piece of information.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
