Loading problem on certain websites

Hi,

Since last Friday (Feb 20), I've had a problem loading the Yahoo home
page (www.yahoo.com). The text loads but some of the graphics don't
(IE eventually times out and displays the placeholders with red X's);
the same is true for the news site (news.yahoo.com). It always worked
fine before last Friday. There might be other websites that don't
load properly, but I haven't found any others.

I have cable Internet access from Videotron and a Linksys BEFSR41
4-port router/switch with 2 computers connected to it (running Windows
2000 and XP). The problem affects both computers. At first I thought
there's a problem with the Yahoo site but if I connect the cable modem
directly to each computer (bypassing the router), or if I open a VPN
tunnel to my workplace through the router, the pages load fine.
Thinking the router was the problem, I tried a different one (a D-Link
DI-604) but the same problem occurs.

What could be wrong? Keep in mind that the problem occurs with *both*
of my computers, so it's unlikely that it's an IE problem (but who
knows?).

Thanks,
-Nick

sounds like a nice problem... check and make sure your
routers you got are not firewalled, or other misc crap
that happens like that. i have a 4 port netgear cable/dsl
web safe router gateway RP614 (long name... i know) if ya
want it (as long are you are within the us). just pay the
shipping costs. also download the lavasoft ad-aware 6.0
free trial and make sure you dont have anything thats
preventing you that way.

The website that provides the image has timed out. It could be caused by many things:
- their server is down, or the route to it is misconfigured
- your anti-virus/firewall/privacy software is blocking what it think is an ad
- your hosts file has an entry for that website (like 127.0.0.1 ads.yahoo.com) and your computer doesn't have a webserver running

So check your hosts file, disable all the internet security stuff temporarily, then check if the site works.
Right click the "X" and select properties. Now ping that machine and tracert it.
