Load Ballacing broke DHCP - The DHCP service is not servicing any clients because.......

I installed an addition NIC in my 2003 SBS in an attempt to get load
balancing to work. Immediately there were problems with DHCP, and I ended up
having to change the IP address of the original LAN NIC. This worked fine
for a while, and then on the weekend it piled up and would not give out DHCP
leases.

I physically removed the offending NIC (Which was disabled and uninstalled
at this point) and attempted to remove and reinstall DHCP. At this point no
amount of reconfiguring will work to get the system to recognize that there
is indeed a hardcode internal NIC. Event viewer shows the following error.

"The DHCP service is not servicing any clients because none of the active
network interfaces have statically configured IP addresses, or there are no
active interfaces."

I have tried to re-bind the service to the LAN NIC (DHCP Properties,
Advanced, Bindings) but it makes no difference.

What am I missing?

You can't do that. Load Balancing is for multiple computers (Server
Clustering), not multiple Nics.

Yep..
175767 - Expected Behavior of Multiple Adapters on Same Network

With only one Nic installed in the machine....
Uninstall the DHCP Service. Configure the NIC with a *static* IP#, Mask,
DNS & WINS if required, a Gateway if required. Make sure the machine
fuctions properly on the network (Network Places, browsing shares, etc.).
Then reinstall the DHCP Service and recreate your Scope.

I tried that.
No go.

Someone suggested a DNS issue, but i dont see how that would cause this.

I don't know then.

DHCP has no relationship to DNS. DHCP would work even if there was no DNS,
no WINS, no Active Directory, and even no Windows for that matter.
