Hello Everyone
I am currently looking for software that can be used to automaticall
loadbalance external network traffic as well as provide autofail ove
that works with w2k RRAS. I currently have 2 Connections (1 5 meg/
meg Cable connection with 1 IP and one 5 meg/1.5 meg DSL connectio
with 1 IP). The cable Connection I have directly connected to a NI
but the DSL connection I have to use a router and a Private IP scal
which i currently have setup in a /30 range (easiest setup at th
time) does anybody know of any software that would do what i a
looking for?

Thanks in advanc

I'm not sure if you can do this with Windows tools only. You can with Cisco
6500 series switch if you have one.

Buy a NAT Device that handles two WAN connection. Some of the Linksys boxes
can do that.

Windows does have Dead Gateway Detection. But it probably won't do the job
as you wish. I believe it also assumes one physical interface and the
Gateways are on the same subnet.

One of them is the RV082, but I imagine they have others that do it too.

http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=589&scid=29

I am not persoanlly attracted to these types of devices and don't expect to
use any myself and don't follow what they do from model to model,...I only
knew they had this feature by other people that posted that in the groups
somewhere alone the way.

I agree, I just wanted to see how they do it (considering the real Cisco
says use BGP and buy two of our routers!)

Yea, there is a difference in technology there, but those Cisco devices are
a lot more robust and will work with any type of Line technolgy and even
with mis-matched technology (like mixing a T1 with ISDN).

These other things will only work with Cable/DSL technology and I think
Cable and DSL are about the same technology other than the medium they run
on. Cable/DSL is great for home use and I have DSL myself, but I am still
not sold on it for using in commercial grade situation. But the "masses"
usually don't listen to me ;-)

I am familiar with the cisco 6500 series as we gave a couple of the
in my workplace (2 6513's and 3 6509's) but I don't have that kin
of money to spend at home. Also we do emply BGP @ work with the
DS3's we have coming in from qwest and the other single DS3 coming i
from AT&T. The cisco 7200 series (06 model in particular is great
with multilinking these connections. I did look at the linksys router
as well as a few others like the xincom twin wan routers. The xinco
is what I would recommend actually

Thanks for all your help
