Save the Win 98 Hosts file as c:\windows\hosts -- with no ".txt" or
other file type. An easy way to do that is to create the file using
this command, being sure to include the period at the end:
notepad C:\Windows\Hosts.
The lmhosts file has nothing to do with Internet sites. It's used to
associate the name of a LAN computer with an IP address.
