Livebox problems- confused!

Hi folks.

I have just swapped from my old Netgear to a livebox, inspired by the
'Max' ackage. I have a network of 3 pc's and a imac- all worked fine
before.

Now they all connect to the network fine; just my sons pc will not
connect to the internet through the livbox. It is on the network, I
can see it from the other computers, and see them through it. It just
will not connect to the net- through Firefox or explorer (or messenger
or update the virus checker or owt). I tried to turn off the firewall,
no improvement- and I have run through the 'internet connection
wizard', but with no luck.

He is nagging me something rotten- and I am at a lost. It is obviously
down to his computer, as the others work fine; his also worked fine
through the old netgear wireless router.

Any ideas? I would love it if you could help me- make my house a lot
quieter! I may also be able to get on my imac then, as well!

Thanks for you thoughts.

Simon

The livebox is terrible. We had one and have since replaced it with a
netgear router - lots stronger signal everywhere in the house.

I would normally agree, from what I have read, but it does seem to
have adequate signal for the huse- it's just his computer will not
connect to the net!

HELP!

Not sure what a livebox is, but presume it's an alternative router?

As you can see the PC from yours, it sounds as if TCP/IP is configured
correctly so it may be that DNS is not working. Can you ping, say,
www.bbc.co.uk from it? If you get host not found when you do, try
pinging it's IP address - 212.58.251.201. If that works, then it's DNS
is not working. If the ping still fails, then you have a more
fundamental problem:-(

Might be useful for you to post the output from ipconfig /all, and maybe
the same from one of the PCs that is working. What OS, BTW?

Also try using nslookup tool to see what you get when you
attemptlookups of various names. You should also get an error if
nameservers aren't configured correctly there, but some of them can be
a bit misleading.
